MERLEY BUNGALOW EXTENSION
Overview: A small 2 bed bungalow with a decent sized garden. Increase living area and bedroom count. A large brick garage in the back garden to be removed to make space for the new extention.
Brief: To extend the back of the bungalow to create a living space that looks out to their rear garden. New kitchen, dinning area, lounge with the addition of a utility and shower room to the side. Existing lounge, which is currently at the front of the property,to be converted into a mater bedroom, increasing the property from a 2 bed to a 3 bed.
Criteria: These clients also wanted to explore a front extension with cedar wood cladding, with the view of adding aother bedroom and en-suit at a later date. This second phase would increase the bedroom count to 4.
There were two peices of funiture that had to be taken into consideration and incorporated into the final design. A piano and a pair of newly reupholstered egg chairs from the 1960's.
The kitchen is to stay in its current location but to be to be updated. The client decided on a green flat door kitchen, brass inlay handles and a white quartz worktop water falling down from the peninsular bar area.
The lounge and dinning area is sunken by 2 steps from the existing bungalow. A feature wall houses a 900mm wide built in wood burner, with concreat effect tiles and slatted wood panelling.
Herringbone parquet floor to run through the new livving space, including the kitchen. Three meteres wide grey aluminium Bifold doors to open out into a new garden space.
The colour pallet including rich oranges, greens, wood panelling all accented with brass fittings and fixtures is a nod to1960/70's decor.
